About Reclaimed Teak

Reclaimed teak wood is teak that has been reaped from any works, e.g. quays, bridges, housing, etc. The lumber is then gently selected and restored yielding in a rich mature aged patina, which is significantly resistant and less likely to shrink or crack. This reduces the felling trees, and lead existing materials to a new use since it is being used again.

In consequence, recycled teak is royally eco-friendly. It tends to have less pitch pockets, sapwood, and other natural defects since recycled teak wood is from old-growth trees. Another advantage we can gain from this wood is that it less likely to warp or twist than freshly felled timber. It is because it has been air-drying for decades, and consequently fully adjusted to the atmosphere.

Recycled teak wood is the wood of choice for many architects and builders around the world. It is often more expensive than new wood, as the cost to retrieve it, clean it and get it to market costs more than the felling of new wood. Nevertheless, there is nothing more timeless than a hand crafted piece of recycled teak wood furniture. Each piece is absolutely picturesque, giving it the extra distinctive something. Purchasing authentic reclaimed teak furniture is not only an environmentally friendly option, but one can end up owning a piece of the past as well. Recycled teak will last a lifetime and often remains in families for generations.
